I do not like
Speed work, Ken.
I do not like it
Now and then.
I do not like it
When it's hot.
I do not like it
When it's not.
I do not like it
In the rain.
I do not care for
Sweat and pain.
Speed work makes you
Faster for sure,
But sometimes with injuries
That have no cure.
It hurts my knees
And hurts my ham.
I can't run fast,
Sloth I am.
Speed work is silly
For Masters' class
When every year
Yields a bigger ass.
It starts out fine,
Then legs go dead,
As sweat runs down
My balding head.
I won't win the race.
This much is clear.
I'll finish late,
So save me a beer.
But I train each week
Just to give my best
And then eat breakfast
Along with the rest.
And then you ask,
How was your luck?
I think you know,
